Travel and Living Arrangements
The UPMC International Training Center of Excellence staff will facilitate living arrangements for participants. A hospital cafeteria and many local restaurants are easily accessible to program participants during their stay.
Travel to Pittsburgh
- Participants must secure a B1 visa for their trip to Pittsburgh. The UPMC International Training Center of Excellence will facilitate this process for those attending, but each participant will need to apply for and receive a visa from the U.S. Embassy.
- Travel to and from Pittsburgh is the responsibility of the participant. Travel for Program events, including UPMC site visits, will be provided by UPMC.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is a requirement to attend the nursing observership program.
- Nurses must have one year of clinical experience before attending.

If you are interested in participating in a nursing observership at the UPMC International Training Center of Excellence, please submit a statement of interest to UPMCInternational@upmc.edu, including which areas you would like to focus on during your time here. Flexibility is central to the success of the Nursing Observership Program, and every effort will be made to accommodate each participant’s objectives.
